What's your water bottle?

This may sound strange, but one of the perks of my job is that I get to go on site to companies and hear what their frustrations are. Let me explain.

Yesterday, I spent time with a couple execs and one of them shared a recent policy frustration he had. After hearing about the Great Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch, he banned water bottles in their office. And despite the "ban," he still sees employees bringing them in.

It's not that employees are defying management. Maybe they forgot or are new employees and didn't know about it. And this is what they are hoping to accomplish with digital signage. The company has grown leaps and bounds in the last year and they are concerned that employees (new and old) are becoming a bit disconnected.

This is the role that digital signage can play with employee communications. It can remind them of the policies in place WITHOUT contributing to the problem of email overload.

And what I liked hearing is that they want to use digital signage to bring their company closer, sharing such things business wins and successes, along with photos from their company softball team.

And for the water bottle ban, every company has something similar - an employee action they are trying to correct.

What's your company's "water bottle?"
