It's no secret that the number of manufacturing jobs in this country has been on a steady decline for some time. However, there are still millions of Americans (11.7 million as of Q2 2010) who base their livelihood on manufacturing and businesses who depend on them.

Digital signage in manufacturingNext month, we're hosting a free webinar to talk about the role digital signage can play in communicating to manufacturing employees. But we're going to do more than just talk. We're going to show you how one of the world's most elite manufacturers, Rolls-Royce, invested in digital technology and is now reaping the internal communication rewards.

The image many Americans have of the US manufacturing worker is misplaced. They are just as professional and just as skilled as any others in their lines of work. But often the method in which companies communicate to these employees is outdated.

Manufacturing workers often don't have email, voice mail or intranet access so companies rely on printed communication to deliver corporate communication. And while printed communication is great, it's not very timely and requires many moving parts. Digital signage, however, enables communicators to directly deliver relevant communication right where the employees work.
