Don't be a fraidy cat!

As sort of an absentee corporate communicator, I follow a lot of blogs that discuss the challenges facing corporate communications. When I come across interesting topics, I'll drop in my two cents here.

This post on the Melcrum blog recently caught my eye. Annie Waite, the Global Editor of Melcrum's Internal Comms Hub, outlines one of the bigger challenges facing internal communications pros: FEAR.

Don't be a fraidy cat!It can be intimidating challening your senior leaders on employee communications topics. Often times, they hold your career in their hands, but this is your chance to prove your value. And something that Anne points out that's an interesting shift is not to view it as "challenging," but more so providing your expert advice. The more you position yourself as the expert and help set the priorities, the less you'll have to "challenge." Don't be a fraidy cat.

The other interesting thought Anne brings up (and I'm thrilled she did because it pertains to what MediaTile is all about) is the reliance internal communicators put on words, thus neglecting the visual. This is where digital signage comes in. It can take your routine, mundance communications and give them personality and reach.

If you're in internal communications, I highly recommend adding the Melcrum blog to your RSS reader.
