When you have a 5-year-old daughter like I do, you get to reconnect with many of the Disney classics. . . over and over and over. Beauty and the Beast is one of these flicks I've seen again for the first time in a LONG time. . . over and over and over. We're all familiar with the story but the correlation here is that the words "beauty" and "beast" have both been used to describe digital signage. Can it be both or is it one or the other?
Beauty: What digital signage gives marketers and communicators the ability to do is unlike any other vehicles out there. You can create extremely elegant yet dynamic content and target it to your audiences. And it's allowing companies to communicate to audiences in ways they weren't able to before. That's the "beauty" of digital signage.
Beast: You will find many articles that talk about "feeding the best." Managing a digital signage network takes time, focus and energy. And depending on the type of network it is, you could be updating content on a regular basis. And if you have multiple content creators, you then are required to become your own programming manager, determining the proper times to play your content.
In my opinion, it is both. Investing in and running a digital signage network should not be taken lightly. It's a lot of hard work BUT can also be a lot of fun when reaping its successes.
What are your thoughts?
