Where's the love for digital signage? It's not at corp comm conferences.

I'm sure that many of you have gone to at least one (or two or three or four...) corporate communications related conference in your career. Most are all basically the same, broken down into various tracks like public relations, internal communications and social media, with breakouts here and there.

I've been to quite a few in my day, but what really sets each conference apart from one another are the speakers and their topics. How relevant are they to what you do every day? The answer to this question will decide if the conference was a career development tool or a boondoggle.

What frustrates me is there are never any topics related to the use of digital signage. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself.
IABC, Ragan, Melcrum, PRSA
IABC? None.

PRSA? None.

Ragan? None.

Melcrum? None.

(To be fair, there has been one exception. Last February, I presented at an Advanced Learning Institute Conference in San Francisco about the impact of digital signage on employee communications and social media. So ALI is safe from this rant. . . for now.)

It's puzzling that you could have technologically advanced communications tools like digital signs that are used by large multinational corporations just the same as small businesses for the noble cause of employee communications and still get no love from the conference organizers.

I've tried to get the topic on future agendas. Trust me, I've tried. But the gloves haven't come off yet. Do you think the topic should be included at corporate communications conferences?
