While most technology sectors are facing an absolute beat down in 2009, research firm ABI Research reports that the U.S. market for digital signage is slated for significant growth in overall revenue for 2009.
I'm sure that lower cost LCDs are factoring into the equation, but it can still be confusing for consumers, given the number of digital signage players there are in the marketplace.

Total revenue from the market is expected to increase by 33 percent this year and includes hardware, software, installation and maintenance, said Zippy Aima, digital media analyst at ABI Research. Aima said 2008 revenue ranged up to $700 million.
"Digital signage has emerged as a way to deliver highly customized and targeted messaging in a variety of locations," Aima said. "In a fast-changing world, digital signs' ability to be updated in realtime is a real benefit."
This is great news for MediaTile. (And anyone else named Zippy. I can't imagine there's many.) The report pointed out a few key new vertical markets, such as law enforcement and government, but did not specifically mention employee communications networks. I think dollars will be hard to find in 2009 for corporate communications investments, but they'll be there for you if you build the proper business case.I'm sure that lower cost LCDs are factoring into the equation, but it can still be confusing for consumers, given the number of digital signage players there are in the marketplace.
