Happy Earth Day

Today is Earth Day. Individuals and companies around the world are looking at ways to make their business more environmentally responsible. I remember just a few years back this day was a small blip on the radar but its importance increases year over year. Here's a list of tips from the EPA for things you can do today. Fitting one into your schedule today and then everyday after can make a big difference.

Unfortunately though, employee communication routinely is not a very eco-friendly practice. Communicators are constantly printing newsletters, flyers and banners to get their messages out there. And while there's not wrong communication-wise with this behavior, it's certainly not very "green."

I'll be the first to admit that this term is being over-used and over-applied. But anytime you can reduce your printing needs, you're minimizing the impact on the environment AND saving money -- both popular topics today.

If you're looking to reduce the amount of printing you and your company do but still have the need to communicate to workers (which you should no matter what the economy or environment is doing), digital signage may be an answer for you.

You can dramatically reduce the amount of printed materials by making them digital and sending the very same messages to LCD screens. And better yet, your messages are now dynamic and can be changed at a moment's notice. The messages you're printing are set in stone (or paper in this case).

So in celebration of Earth Day 2009, check out digital signage and see if you think it can benefit your corporate communication world.
