Every organization has them. These are individuals or pockets of people who aren't reached by your communication vehicles and method. They could be janitors. Or security guards. Or nurses. or sales people. They are in your organization, but you can't see them. Your messages can't reach them. They are in a blind spot.
And if you are not using all of the tools at your disposal to reach to those in the blind spots, you're failing to improve communication. Internal communication pros have all sorts of methods to get the messages out. There is certainly no shortage. Newsletters. Intranets. Town halls. Email. Voice mail. Banners. Posters. "Huddles." Digital signage. Just to name a few.
And the reason all of these tools are put to use is because none of them are perfect. This is not a post to evaluate the strenghts and weaknesses of each vehicle. You know what they are. But it's when you take advantage of each of each tool's strengths, you can eliminate the communication blind spots in your organization.
