Digital signage success is in the numbers

Numbers reveal digital signage is growingI'm not a big numbers guy. Never have been. Maybe never will.

But some people need numbers and statistics to validate buying actions. They aren't a "go by the gut" crowd and I can respect that. There is a sense of comfort knowing the numbers will back them up.

But whether you make decisions by gut or numbers, you cannot ignore that digital signage is a growing industry. The prevalence and recognition of the technology has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years.

Need proof? I pulled these cited statistics from our ROM: Return on Message white paper that you can download free of charge. And as you know, numbers can be hard to come by in the world of corporate communication.

Here is what the data reveals:
  • According to two surveys conducted in 2007, 63% responded that digital signage caught their attention, compared to 58% for  billboards, 57% for magazines, 57% for TV and so forth.
  • There were over a million new displays in 2008, a 34% increase over 2007.
  • In four years, the installed market will more than double to 2.3 million digital signs.
The future success of the digital signage industry is in the numbers.
