Are you pushing out "cookie cutter" internal communications?

I've seen it way too often. Corporate communicators responsible for employee communications receive direction from above that they must use certain communication vehicles, because well, "that's what you're supposed to do." This direction could originate from company execs or various communication groups.

Are you pushing out cookie cutter communications?Newsletter? Check.

Intranet? Check.

Internal blog? Check.

Town hall meetings? Check.

Suggestion boxes? Check.

Posters and flyers? Check.

Many feel that if you just check the box and provide (what I call) cookie cutter communications that you're getting the job done. But it's not that you're communicating through these vehicles, but what are your messages? Where's the creativity? Is it timely? Is it accessible? Do people care?

Right now, digital signage is not on any sort of internal communications must-do checklist. The technology lets you inject dynamic content directly where your employees work.

Don't let yourself and your company fall victim to cookie cutter communications. The results aren't very sweet.
