New 3G/4G Digital Signage Guide Released – Free from Digital Signage Today

Monday, January 23, 2012 by Mike Foster
I’m delighted to announce that a new guide on 3G / 4G Cellular-based Digital Signage is now available from Digital Signage Today.  As the recognized leader in cellular digital signage, MediaTile has been the proud sponsor of this whitepaper for the past 5 years.

T3G/4G Digital Signage Guide Imagehe new 2012 edition includes an expanded section on 4G services and additional information on the growth of M2M (machine to machine) initiatives from worldwide cellular carriers.  Given all the recent interest in, and growth of 4G networks, I expect that this new edition will be equally, if not more popular, than last year’s.

Last year, this whitepaper made the “Top 10 list of most popular downloads” each and every month from the Digital Signage Today site.  Another clear indication that there is tremendous interest in 3G and 4G-based digital signage solutions.  At MediaTile, we believe 4G is truly a “disruptive technology” as it has leveled the playing field between cellular networks and tethered LAN-based networks in terms of bandwidth.  You can now grab the equivalent of 3 to 5 T1 lines right out of the air.

For anyone interested in how 4G wireless broadband networks are expanding the addressable market for digital signage, download the “3G/4G Cellular-based Digital Signage” guide.   As always, we’re delighted to share our expertise in this dynamic and growing market.

Verizon Wireless and MediaTile Announce Support for 4G LTE on the HumanKiosk

Tuesday, October 25, 2011 by Mike Foster
HumanKiosk powered by MediaCast Video Presence and 4G LTE
Today, in a joint press release with Verizon Wireless, we announced support for 4G LTE on the commercial release of the HumanKiosk solution, powered by MediaCast Video Presence.  Since 2004 we’ve been working with Verizon Wireless to bring the advantages of “cellular digital signage” to our customers and partners – today we’re excited to have Verizon Wireless on board as an official eco-system partner for our revolutionary HumanKiosk and MediaCast Video Presence solution.

By leveraging the 4G LTE network, MediaTile extends its lead in delivering innovative, interactive digital signage solutions that transform traditional B2C communications into B2Me engagement.  The HumanKiosk does just this – it is the fusion of interactive digital signage with on-demand, virtual experts and face-to-face interaction.  With the integration of Verizon’s fast and reliable 4G LTE network, the HumanKiosk supports secure, high-definition, two-way face-to-face video conversations with nothing more than a power source on site.

You can read the full release here, but here are some quick facts about Verizon Wireless 4G LTE and the HumanKiosk from the announcement:  The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is the nation’s fastest, most reliable 4G network, covering more than 165 markets and providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless’ 3G network.  The HumanKiosk is a result of collaboration fostered at Verizon Wireless’ LTE Innovation Center in Waltham, Mass. The LTE Innovation Center and the Verizon’s Innovation Program (www.innovation.verizon.com) provide an environment for diverse companies to work together to develop innovative products that leverage 4G LTE technology.

Brian Higgins, vice president, Network Technology at Verizon Wireless had this to say:  “By combining the advantages of the HumanKiosk with the power and speed of Verizon’s 4G LTE network, in-field marketing and customer service can be changed dramatically.”   For more on the HumanKiosk solution visit our website here.  And if you haven’t yet seen our launch video yet, you can view it on youtube here.

31 reasons not to be afraid of digital signage #dsafraid // Reason #2: Cellular

Monday, October 10, 2011 by Chuck Gose
In light of October being a rather scary month, we thought we would highlight 31 reasons not to be afraid of digital signage. We hope you enjoy them.

Reason #2: Cellular digital signage

As mentioned in the first reason, IT can be a scary world for a lot of people. They'd probably rather check out a spooky noise at the endy of a creepy hallway than set up a meeting with their IT people.

All the way back in 2004, we released the world's first cellular digital signage. This was a huge breakthrough in the industry because it overcome one of the biggest obstacles in network installation: expensive IT infrastructure.

With both 3G and 4G connections available and coverage issues almost non-existent, for many cellular is the right choice. Plus because your digital signage network then stays completely off of your IT grid, it greatly reduces any security risks. This is a huge selling point for banks and other financial institutions (download).

And also for retailers, who's POS networks are often just large enough to manage store transactions. Adding more machinery to the networks could bog things down. But with cellular, they ride on a completely separate network.

The cellular connectivity is completely embedded, thanks to our partnerships with Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. All you have to do is hang your signage on the wall and get power to it. That's it. Plug and play.

Digital signage discussion with Neil Deakin & Steljes

Thursday, September 15, 2011 by Chuck Gose
Steljes is one of our international partners and one of their employees, Neil Deakin, went on a 24-hour road trip around the UK with our cellular digital signage. And considering all he needed was a 3G cellular connection for the signage, he could take it anywhere he wanted. All he needed was his laptop to change and update content on the fly during his trip.

Initially I had asked Neil to do a guest blog post about his trip. But rather than read what he said, why not just watch this video? It will be interesting to see if he will do complete another challenge with our technology. Because while our stuff worked on the trip, it sounds like the trip wore Neil out.

Direct from Neil:

"On September 1 to demonstrate the; power, ease of use and flexibility of MediaTile, Matt Richardson and I set off on the Me&MyMediatile 24hr road trip challenge. The aim was to visit as many UK locations as possible over a 24hr period, updating content to the MediaTile screen in the back of our car at each stop. This was possible due to MediaTile being a cloud based digital signage solution. Content was created in and distributed the player from MediaCast, their web portal. The player received content over the 3G data network and then played out to the display.

Our trip started at the Angel of the North in Gateshead north east England and routed through Scotland crossing the forth bridge before progressing up to Dundee. A scenic twilight section led us back into England traveling through Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales.

As night fell we ventured onto Manchester, through the Midlands and into Wales. The sun began to rise as we entered London passing through Westminster. The final leg took us to Brighton on the south coast as the sun broke through the morning mist. Finally we arrived at Steljes HQ in Bagshot 938 miles and 24hrs after leaving the Angle of the North."

MediaTile Cellular Digital Signage Featured in new Verizon Ad!

Monday, September 12, 2011 by Mike Foster
susie lemonadeAnother incredible milestone for the digital signage industry, for MediaTile, for Verizon, and for our collective communities – which now officially includes “Susie’s Lemonade.” Verizon Wireless has just released the next installment of their nationwide TV ad campaign featuring Susie’s Lemonade as a growing business – and this ad features MediaTile’s cellular digital signage solution in her store! (Look closely and you’ll notice the tell-tale MediaTile antenna.)

It is really great to work with a company like Verizon Wireless, who completely “gets” the business value of our cloud-based, cellular digital signage solution. We’ve been working closely with Verizon Wireless since 2004, and have achieved numerous industry milestones with them.

With their ever-increasing efforts on M2M (machine-to-machine) business solutions, our 3G/4G Cellular Digital Signage solutions have gone main-stream (or main-street if you think of Susie’s Lemonade business).  Want to read more about the advantages of 3G/4G Cellular Digital Signage? Check out our site, or the industry whitepaper we sponsor with Digital Signage Today, which continues to be in their Top-10 List of most popular downloads, month-after-month.

How did this all come about?  Several months back, we received a request from Verizon Wireless to help them, and their agency, place a MediaTile cellular digital sign into the next Susie Lemonade commercial, and, the rest is history! Take a few moments to watch the entire commercial.

3G / 4G Digital Signage – Moving on up!

Monday, August 15, 2011 by Mike Foster
Every once in a while, it’s a good idea to step back and take in the bigger picture.   Today is one of those days.  Since 2003, MediaTile has been working hard to move “Cellular Digital Signage” into the mainstream market, and today we have more evidence that that is indeed happening.  Here are some recent indicators:
3G 4G Digital Signage Whitepaper
A great article was recently penned by Christopher Hall of Digital Signage Today (DST).  The article chronicles the ever-increasing interest from mainstream carriers, including Verizon, Sprint and AT&T, in 3G and 4G digital signage solutions.  Not only are these industry titans interested in digital signage, but continue to make investments to ensure its success, including go-to-market activities, special websites, and a plethora of M2M (Machines to Machine) programs.   As THE pioneer, and leader in this market space, I’m (we’re) ecstatic about this market momentum.

And, once again, the 3G / 4G Cellular-based Digital Signage Whitepaper from Digital Signage Today (DST) has made the “Top 10” list of most popular downloads.   This paper, which we sponsor, is great for partners, customers, and channel members who need a primer on both the capabilities and advantages which 3G / 4G Cellular Digital Signage has to offer.  You can download a free copy of this paper simply by registering for membership with DST.

As the summer winds down, it’s great to see cellular digital signage picking up.

4G Digital Signage - Just Add Power (again!)

Thursday, February 17, 2011 by Leah Kane

Mike Foster(Today's guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

Just Add Power!

Over the past six months MediaTile has been very active with both Sprint and Verizon Wireless 4G launch events across the country as new cities are “lit” with a new generation of high-bandwidth wireless services.

As we near our 50th 4G launch event this week, customer reactions to our “cloud-based” solutions – which deliver  both the advantages of 3G and 4G cellular (wireless) digital signage and SaaS-based content management services – continue to be met with a combination of relief and awe.

Simply put, cloud-based digital signage eliminates many of the costs and complexities associated with traditional deployments that require heavy investment and maintenance in on-site IP-based network gear and services.  Unlike these traditional systems, cloud-based digital signage is remarkably simple to deploy, and easy to use.  While in Phoenix, at a recent Verizon Wireless 4G LTE launch event,  it was fortunate that I was demonstrating our HumanKiosk with MediaCast Video Presence next to an artistic display in the US Airways center that featured a 20-foot power cable, plugged into a 10-foot representation of a power outlet.

Thinking back on one of our earliest taglines at MediaTile, which was “Just Add Power™” I couldn’t have asked for a more representative location.  With 3G/4G wireless services being built-into our media players, and complete control through our web-based MediaCast system, all you need for next digital signage deployment is a standard power outlet.  And with advanced 4G services, even on-site T1 networks pale in comparison to what is possible with cloud-based digital signage.

MediaTile’s Cellular Digital Signage / HumanKiosk featured at Sprint ADP Conference in Keynote and Exhibit Hall

Wednesday, October 27, 2010 by Leah Kane

(Today's guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

Today is day two for me at the Sprint Developer’s Conference in Santa Clara, CA.  Yesterday, Sprint M2M president Danny Bowman, and VP of Marketing Wayne Ward gave an enlightening keynote on Sprint’s view of the Machine to Machine market to the more than 1200 attendees in a packed room.

The key focus of this event is on Sprint partners, such as MediaTile, and the use of embedded modems and 3G/4G data services included in vertical solutions.  As Danny explained in his keynote “We’re only as good as the partnership we have...we’ can’t do any of this without the participation of folks in this room.”

MediaTile was prominently featured in their keynote presentation as a perfect example of an M2M partner, and how our Cellular Digital Signage /HumanKiosk uses the Sprint 4G network to deliver new 2-way video capabilities in the digital signage / kiosk marketplace.  This created serious attention and traffic to our HumanKiosk demonstration area, located in the main exhibit hall.  If you’re still at the show today or tomorrow, stop by and I’ll give you a personal demonstration.    Yesterday, I was accompanied by Jessica, pictured above, who helped with the product demonstrations.

If you’d like to learn more about how 4G will fundamentally change the digital signage industry, you can download this free 3G/4G Digital Signage whitepaper from the Digital Signage Today site.

Sprint M2M Collaboration Center Grand Opening Features MediaTile 3G/4G Digital Signage

Tuesday, October 26, 2010 by Leah Kane

(Today's guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

Yesterday, I attended the grand opening of Sprint’s M2M (Machine to Machine) Collaboration Center in Burlingame, CA.  As MediaTile is the leader in 3G/4G cellular digital signage, it was both an honor and a privilege to attend this event and to have our latest prototype, the HumanKiosk, prominently featured with a variety of other "game-changers."

With press and analysts in attendance, it was also nice to see the positive reaction and interest that the HumanKiosk continues to draw. This photo is of one of our Sprint Solutions Engineers, Larry, giving a demonstration of the HumanKiosk to one of the six press groups who came through.

The purpose of the center, as you can read from the Sprint website is that the Sprint M2M Collaboration Center brings together Sprint partners, equipment providers, customers and employees to rapidly prototype, test and launch concepts and new ideas." The press release was issued this morning, and lists all the Sprint 4G M2M collaborators, including MediaTile.

If you’d lke to learn more about how 4G will fundamentally change the digital signage industry, you can download this free 3G/4G Digital Signage whitepaper from the Digital Signage Today site.

Today I am off to the Sprint Open Developers conference in Santa Clara, again showcasing MediaTile’s 3G/4G cellular digital signage and the HumanKiosk. You can learn more about that event here. I’ll post about that one tomorrow.

Verizon Wireless Unveils 4G LTE Launch Plans – at CTIA

Thursday, October 7, 2010 by Leah Kane

(Today's Guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

I’m here at CTIA in San  Francisco, and the show theme is the “Wireless Enterprise”.  So what better time than now for Verizon Wireless to announce their 4G LTE launch plans?  Verizon Wireless President and COO, Lowell McAdam, unveiled the company’s plans to launch 4G LTE services in 38 cities, covering 110 million people by the end of the year.   Big news indeed!

I was equally impressed by the vision that Verizon Wireless, as well as Sprint and other carriers, share for 4G-enabled solutions. They see 4G as a true transformation of their  (and others') industry - enabling a whole new generation of connected M2M (Machine to Machine) devices extending beyond traditional handheld devices. MediaTile has been living this vision since its inception, with our embedded 3G and emerging 4G cellular digital signage platform. But now, with 4G, we can offer revolutionary products and services such as the 4G HumanKiosk with 2-way video.

From MediaTile’s perspective, where 3G cellular digital signage solutions were engaging,  4G solutions will be truly immersive.  And since we’re supporting both platforms, 4G WiMax and 4G LTE, we’ve got all bases covered.

MediaTile HumanKiosk Highlighted at CTIA in Sprint’s Booth (#543) #ctiaena

Wednesday, October 6, 2010 by Leah Kane

(Today's Guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

Today we are showcasing MediaTile’s award-winning HumanKiosk prototype in Sprint’s booth at the CTIA show in San Francisco:  #543 West Concourse.   If you are planning on attending CTIA this week, please stop by and I’ll give you a demonstration of this next-generation interactive digital signage platform with live, 2-way video capabilities.

It was also great to see Sprint announce its new Command Center at the show today.  The Sprint Command Center is essentially a web-based portal that is targeted to M2M  (machine to machine) companies such as MediaTile.  The Command Center will enable us to provision and manage our 3G and 4G cellular digital signage networks.  So not only has Sprint enabled us to embed a secure, wireless network directly into our digital signage product line, we’ll now have the ability to better manage it on behalf of our customers, and our customer’s customers.

If you’re not familiar with the HumanKiosk, check it out here

HumanKiosk with MediaCast Video Presence showcased at Sprint 4G Event in Tampa

Tuesday, October 5, 2010 by Leah Kane

MediaTile’s HumanKiosk was again on center stage, this time in Tampa, Florida, at another Sprint 4G Roadshow event. The HumanKiosk is a next-generation digital signage prototype that draws a lot of attention and interest as it showcases a high-definition, interactive digital signage platform with the  unique addition of a live, 2-way video chat session using our MediaCast Video Presence software.

The all-in-one system only requires power to work – making it highly suitable for retailers, brands, hospitals, banks and a host of other locations who want to deliver enhanced customer service, but who don’t or can’t use their existing on-site network.

Sprint’s 4G network boasts 10x more bandwidth over 3G networks. Thus eliminating any remaining variance between hard-wired, high bandwidth networks while providing all the advantages of a cellular solution:  more secure, more flexible, easier to deploy, higher reliability and linear scalability.

This week, we're at the CTIA Enterprise and Applications show in San Francisco, to demonstrate the HumanKiosk with MediaCast Video Presence in Sprint’s booth #543 on the West Concourse – if you’re around, please stop by for an in-person demo!

If you’d like to know more about the impact that 4G will have on Digital Signage, please visit Digital Signage Today and download the newly updated version of the “3G/4G Cellular-based Digital Signage” guide. This guide includes the latest 4G information and commentary by carriers, users and integrators.

Helpful information on digital signage is available

Monday, August 30, 2010 by Chuck Gose
Years ago, it wasn't easy to track down quality research on digital signage. But iff you're just now getting into the technology, there's a wealth of information at your fingertips.

There are a host of great blogs out there, but many times corporations are fascinated by the almighty white paper. And fortunately, Digital Signage Today is a great resource for these more authoritative resources. Many are sponsored by vendors in the digital signage space (including this one on 3G/4G cellular by MediaTile) but they are all very well written and provide sound advice.

They are even broken down by market, so if you're looking for digital signage for healthcare, there's a white paper for you. Retail? White paper. Want to learn more the real cost of digital signage? White paper.

The point being that there is now a lot of information out there that can help you not only determine if the technology is right for you and your company but also provide you guides on making the most of your investment.

The importance of 4G to Digital Signage, and Flying Cars!

Monday, August 2, 2010 by Leah Kane
(Today's Guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

On my morning commute, I couldn’t help but draw the analogy between the business value that 4G brings to the digital signage market with flying cars.  A strange thought, true, but while stuck in traffic, I began to ponder the problems LAN and Wi-Fi networks present to digital signage as being similar to roads and infrastructure, and how 3G and 4G completely eliminates these barriers.

LAN and Wi-Fi networks, like roads, limit where you can go, and are costly deploy and maintain.  If you’re relying on LAN and Wi-Fi “ip-roads” for digital signage, you can realistically only deploy signage where ip-roads currently exist, create your own ip-roads at a significant cost, face long-term ip-road maintenance fees, and continue to deal with ip-road traffic, especially during rush hour.  Even if you’ve got sophisticated network management gear, you might be able to create a special commute lane and manage traffic, but again, you’re dealing with lots of costly infrastructure.

3G and 4G networks, like flying cars, allow you to go (deploy) wherever you want; you won’t be dealing with all the other traffic on the road, you have the ability to go as fast as the bandwidth allows – as fast, or even faster, than the traffic below.  Sprint’s 4G network delivers 3-6 Mbps download rates, plenty to get your media to its destination quickly and securely.  And even from a security standpoint, you’re not subject to having to “park” your player on an ip-road, where it can be seen and potentially broken (hacked) into.  You’re on your own private and secure 4G road in the air.  For these and other important advantages of 3G / 4G digital signage, please check out this whitepaper from Digital Signage Today.

Unlike 4G services, which are now in more than 30 markets and growing, the promise of flying cars is still a ways off, but getting closer.  You can learn more about the first commercial flying car or visit Terrafugia and even put your $10,000 deposit down for an early order!

New 3G/4G Cellular Digital Signage paper makes Digital Signage Today's Top 10

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 by Leah Kane
(Today's Guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

I was delighted to see that our new 3G/4G Cellular-based Digital Signage Whitepaper has made the Top10 list of downloads at Digital Signage Today. It’s great to see that there is a ton of interest in 3G and 4G based digital signage solutions, and that interest continues to grow among resellers and customers.

Recently, I’ve attended and demonstrated our 4G-based solutions in Sacramento, at the Government Technology Conference, and at a Sprint 4G Launch Event in Kansas City, and was overwhelmed by the newfound interest.   I believe that 4G is truly a “disruptive technology”, and it has the ability to change the networking landscape as we have come to know it. High-bandwidth networks no longer require a tethered network access point.

For everyone interested in how 4G wireless broadband networks will affect the digital signage industry, please visit Digital Signage Today and download the new, and just-released version of the “3G/4G Cellular-based Digital Signage” guide.

Here’s what contributing editor Richard Slawsky, of Digital Signage Today, had to say about the impact that 4G will have: “Although 3G networking provided a breakthrough for digital signage, 4G is expected to be the ‘tipping point’ for a new generation of wireless digital signage deployments, as it eliminates any remaining variance between hard wired, high-bandwidth networks.”

MediaTile Demonstrates HumanKiosk at Sprint 4G Event in Kansas City

Wednesday, June 30, 2010 by Leah Kane
(Today's Guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

Sprint has included our 3G/4G cellular digital signage as a key element in their public 4G road-shows, the first of which is in Kansas City this week.

Our HumanKiosk will be prominently featured in Sprint’s 4G Retail solutions “vignettes”, showcasing the live, 2-way video chat using our MediaCast SaaS content management system and 4G Video Presence technology.   With 10x more bandwidth over 3G networks, 4G eliminates any remaining variance between hard-wired, high bandwidth networks while providing all the advantages of a cellular solution: more secure, more flexible, easier to deploy, higher reliability and linear scalability. I’m excited to be in Kansas City as this 4G road-show kicks off.

Sprint has accelerated their marketing efforts around 4G, and is now offering 4G services in more than 30 US markets.  We are very excited about the 4G opportunity, including the soon to be released 4G LTE platform from Alcatel/Lucent and VerizonWireless.

4G networks could very well be a tipping point for the entire digital signage industry, accelerating deployments and enabling new market opportunities.  If you’d like to know more about the impact that 4G will have on digital signage, please visit Digital Signage Today and download the newly updated version of the "3G/4G Cellular-based Digital Signage" guide. This guide includes the latest 4G information and commentary by carriers, users and integrators.

How will 4G Affect the Digital Signage Industry?

Thursday, June 24, 2010 by Leah Kane

(Today's Guest entry comes from Mike Foster, CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile)

For everyone interested in how 4G wireless broadband networks will affect the digital signage industry, please visit Digital Signage Today and download the just-released version of the “3G/4G Cellular-based Digital Signage” guide.   As the CMO and Co-Founder of MediaTile I’ve been working closely with Digital Signage Today for the past three years to create these “Cellular” guides to explain both the technical and business advantages of using 3G wireless broadband as the fundamental network for digital signage deployments.

The new guide includes the latest 4G information and commentary by carriers, users and integrators. With 4G now available in more than 27+ US markets from Sprint, and 4G LTE technology poised for release by end of year, this guide is a must-read for digital signage network customers, operators, deployers and vendors alike.

Here’s what contributing editor Richard Slawsky, of Digital Signage Today, had to say about the impact that 4G will have: “Although 3G networking provided a breakthrough for digital signage, 4G is expected to be the ‘tipping point’ for a new generation of wireless digital signage deployments, as it eliminates any remaining variance between hard wired, high-bandwidth networks.

Digital Signage Silver Lining... Is in the Cloud

Monday, April 19, 2010 by Simon Wilson
Cellular and SaaS-based Digital Signage solutions have finally come of age.   Over the past quarter, I’ve attended CES, Digital Signage Expo 2010, The Digital Signage Show, KioskCom, and NAB, and it was clear that cloud computing is definitely on everyone’s radar.   And most everyone is seeing the silver lining of this solution – the inherent reliability, simplicity, scalability and security that it provides.

Customers, strategic partners, vendors, and managed service providers are much clearer on the pros and cons of a cloud-based digital signage solution.  The beauty of 3G, and now, 4G cellular and SaaS solutions is that the network naturally scales to support more media players as they are deployed while providing the built-in reliability and security.  Unlike client-server architectures and LAN-based solutions, computing in the cloud is "off premise" and "off network", enabling network operators and vendors to allocate increasingly more of their time to be focused on the content running across the network, as opposed to running and maintaining the technology behind the digital signage network.

Interested in learning more about Cellular and SaaS?  I penned an article that was featured in the latest issue of Digital Signage Magazine;   look for the special supplement, "Wireless Networking and Content Delivery."

Keeping it Simple,

Digital signage that's "more than meets the eye"

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 by Chuck Gose
As a child of the 80s, I labeled myself a G.I. Joe man, but I did watch the Transformers every day (this was of course Transformers pre-Megan Fox) and even had a few of the toys. Though I'm still a bit peeved that I never had the original Optimus Prime. That wound is still fresh.

The cartoon's beginning had a catchy little tune that went a little something like this:
The Transformers, more than meets the eye,
The Transformers, robots In disguise.

Last week, MediaTile announced a new digital signage product that, too, is "more than meets the eye." Though to disappoint a few, it's not a "robot in disguise." Nor will it wage a battle against the Decepticons.

We call it "the Human Kiosk." Essentially it allows to consumers to interact with a digital display and connect with a real person on the screen. Now I'm not a retail industry expert, but I am a consumer. I think this is pretty cool. It would enable a retailer or brand to provide consistent support for their products whether or not they had a real person on site.

And what's even more amazing is that it will all operate wirelessly (aside from a power plug) through the new 4G/LTE cellular networks. This is where ngConnect comes in. We partnered with them on the Human Kiosk. 4G/LTE has the bandwidth for on-demand video whereas the current 3G networks just can't do it well (if at all in some cases).

This takes cellular digital signage to a whole new level and changes the game for what retailers and brands will be able to do.

What will this new and improved bandwidth do for corporate communication? That's yet to be seen but I have a feeling we'll be there.

And I couldn't close out the post without including that jazzy Transformers intro. Enjoy.
